Fast UTF-8 to UTF-16 Conversion Patented
This thread on linux-utf8 is bitterly funny. Apparently
a professor at SFU has written a
patent-pending fast UTF-8 to UTF-16 converter.
He has even got
philosophical about a patent-based Open Source technology transfer model!!
His motivations are even more funny. Typical of academia of course. Just imagine a company paying patent royalties for their UTF-8 to UTF-16 transcoding code...
