GNOME2.6
Yes, after the short delay cause by the gnome.org intrusion,
GNOME 2.6 is finally out.
Red Hat World Tour
It's the Red Hat World Tour in
Toronto in a few minutes. I decided to join in the middle as I've got something urgent to do.
If you like me go to the washroomes in underwear, you better remember the key, as you can't afford asking a don to open the door! Last night I was enjoying the hot water in the bath that found out I've locked up myself out of my room. It took some 40 minutes to wait in bath robe for a don to come open the door. And apparently all the floor was laughing at me ;).
No FC2 yet :(
Gosh, I'm still waiting for FC2 to do a fresh installation. The GNOME 2.6 delay may affect the FC2 too. 2.6 kernel is pretty good these days. I just miss the Synaptics driver for the touchpad.
In the mean time, I bought a FireWire/USB2 enclosure for the 250GB Maxtor harddisk. My laptop does not have USB2, but the USB1.1 is enough to watch movies. The FireWire works with 2.4, but has problems with 2.6 still.
I bought and read the great
Linux Kernel Development book by Robert Love. I'm now looking for something useful/interesting to warm my hands up with the kernel. Yesterday I bought the book
The Hacker Ethic. Will read it later and report.
More, I bought and watched the
Revolution OS documentry. It's nice. Linus, RMS, ESR, and others talk. It's a video version of the book
Open Sources.
I attend the
U of T System Software Reading Group times to times. Nice papers they discuss there. I'm almost sure I would switch to Systems after finishing this MSc in Theory.
Later,
Back again
Well, I just came here to look something I thought I have wrote here, when I decided I like to write again. Right now I'm running a can or worms, brought to me by Red Hat Rawhide. Eagerly waiting for FC2 release to do a clean install. I'm still waiting for the US Visa to attend the IUC 25 conference that I'm giving a tutorial... Later.
